I took this photo with my iPhone XS (which you can see on the left side) looking into a vase that reflected a view of my garden through my sunroom’s windows. I submitted it to this exhibition (“The Process”) because not only was it a process of reflection, but also because it transforms a photograph almost into a watercolor.
This photo was taken of leaves on a Bradford Pear tree—on the same tree, at the same time. Apparently, some leaves on these trees are at various stages of dying at the same time. I have a version of these leaves set up in a vertical display of individually 5x7 framed photos, with three of the actual leaves in the middle of the display. But for this exhibition, it made sense to have them framed as archival prints, with a gentle arch to represent the stages of dying.
